ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT 2009-10

Ph.D. / M.Phil. in Federal Studies

The Centre for Federal Studies is an Area Studies Research Centre of the University Grants Commission, at the Hamdard University. Besides institutional research, publications of books and publication of a bi-annual research journal, organisation of seminars/ conferences and workshops, the Centre also imparts research guidance to scholars working for their M.Phil. and Ph.Ds in Federal Studies. Research is undertaken in the areas of multi-culturalism, federalism, themes of exclusion and inclusion, state politics, constitutionalism, local governance; and federal systems around the world.

Eligibility:

For admission to Ph.D. / M.Phil. programmes, a candidate should have secured 55% marks at the P.G. level in Federal Studies, Political Science/Sociology/Economics or related subjects and should have secured at least 55% marks in the aggregate.

Ph.D. in Federal Studies

Admission to Ph.D. programme shall be made on the basis of merit determined by the marks of M.Phil in Federal Studies or other subjects related to research areas of Centre for Federal Studies. Candidates may also be admitted to Ph.D. if the candidate has completed M.Phil. from a University recognised by Jamia Hamdard, or has cleared the NET, or is a teacher of Jamia Hamdard or some other University.

Duration of course: Minimum 2 years full time course

M.Phil. in Federal Studies

M.Phil. in Federal Studies is a full time course of interdisciplinary studies and research. Admission to M.Phil. course shall be made on the basis of performance in the entrance test/interview conducted by the University.

Duration of course: One Year.

Application form and Prospectus can be obtained in person or by sending a written request to the Assistant Registrar (Admissions), Jamia Hamdard along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 600 in favour of JAMIA HAMDARD payable at NEW DELHI. Application form can also be downloaded from the web site link and submitted by enclosing the cost of application form and processing fee as per the instructions on the University web site (www.jamiahamdard.edu).

Last date for sale and submission of application form is July 31, 2009.

Entrance Test/Interview dates will be announced on the University Website (jamiahamdard.edu and jamiahamdard.ac.in)
